where?

Where else do you eat with filthy hands, shower in bathrooms used by dozens of other people, and drop everything you are doing to watch the sun set? Where else are scratches and bruises badges of honor rather than boo boos? Where else do strangers become friends if only for a weekend? Where else is clothing optional and mismatched shoes acceptable? Where else can one look at the world as slower, more simple place? Where? Mt. Nebo

the tardy bell

Guess what? The kids went back to school. 6 WEEKS AGO! You probably assumed so but at the same time, you were thinking, how could there not be a blog post about such a monumental occasion! Well, here it is. BOTH kids started school on August 17. You read that correctly! Landon started full-time Pre-K at Fair Park (the same school Presley attended 2 years ago) and Presley started First Grade at Roberts Elementary. The hours of 7-8 and 2-3 are not my finest (the schools start at the same time and are on the opposite sides of town) but the 6 hours in between are glorious! Presley has a brand new teacher this year, Mrs. Hackett, and loves math and art. Landon has Mrs. Ross (Presley's old teacher) and loves the block center and causing trouble.

our epic summer

Whew! What a summer! 63 days of fun adventures, belly laughs, smiles, tears and countless chick-fil-a meals. We spent almost our entire summer with friends who now feel more like family. Kari and I were in a bible study last year and instantly hit it off. She is my PIF (partner in fun). We are so similar and have such a great time together no matter what we are doing. It saddens both of us that we are just now being brought together as friends. Our summer days were spent filling every available seat in one of our cars and exploring things both near and far. By mid-July we had been given the title "Best Moms Ever". I'm sure the laughter and happiness of this summer will fade as school starts and our freetime is filled with sports and homework. But hopefully somewhere in their memory they will reserve a place for the 2 months known as Our Epic Summer.

cheese

We were a little late getting these taken this year but we squeezed them in before school started.
