so long summer

Since the weather has not yet decided to stay cold, Presley and I have been enjoying lots of time outdoors. Our new favorite thing? Swings!

I held out as long as possible, but broke down earlier this week and decorated the house for Halloween. I have often referred to Halloween as my Christmas because I enjoy anything and everything about the holiday. Luckily, most of my decorations are out of Presley's reach except for a few furry friends.

an apple a day

There is an apple orchard about 30 minutes from Lubbock, so a friend and I drove out there only to be told that due to a freeze back in February, there were no apples on the trees. What?!? This would have been great information to put on ones website so folks didn't make the trip expecting to pick apples. It was beautiful day, so we strolled around the apple-less orchard for a while and then bought some apples they import from another orchard. Here are some pictures of Presley in her special apple hat with our purchased bag of apples.

up to no good

Actually,we have been up to a lot of good things lately. With fall approaching, my appetite for pumpkins and costumes is rapidly growing. I am making myself wait until October to bring down all the Halloween decorations but I am already on my second bag of mellowcreame pumpkins. I love this time of year.

Our new move & crawl ball. It doesn't work that great on carpet but goes crazy on the tile floor.

The Balloon Festival. The weather was bad and only 2 balloons went up.

A semi wink.

Trying out the sippy cup. Not quite ready.

GO HOGS!

I always cut off the top of Jon's head in pictures.

Hanging out with friends at Jump 'n Jungle. Playdates are wonderful!

Rockin' the sweet legwarmers.

the great pacifier round up

I thought this was a cute video of Presley and her attempt at using a pacifier.

After waiting for the doctor for over an hour, again, Presley got a clean bill of health for her 6 month check-up. She weighs 16 lbs. 13 oz. and is 25 1/2 inches long.

happy 1/2 birthday

Presley turned 6 months old yesterday. I sound like a broken record when I say I can't believe it's already been 6 months since our precious little girl was born. It seems like she does something new everyday. I have to keep a close eye on her just so I won't miss one of her new tricks.

Just because you put a shoe on it, doesn't mean she won't eat it.

Breaking out of daddy's swaddle and learning to sleep like a big girl.

Finally showing some interest in a pacifier...okay, she just likes to throw it across the room and watch mommy fetch it.

vegetable medley

I am having a good time introducing solids to Presley. Since rice cereal wasn't a big hit, I was worried that vegetables would be a struggle too, but she has proven me wrong. Sweet potatoes, squash, peas and carrots are all going down the hatch without too much of a fight. She still makes an awful face for the first bit of whatever it is but eventually we are shoving it in by the spoonfuls. We finally put together the highchair which means I no longer have to stand up or sit on the floor to feed her. We have our 6th month check-up next week. I can't believe she is already 6 months old. This time last year, we were just letting the cat out of the bag that we were pregnant and now here we are feeding our sweet girl solid food.

Ready to go.

Look at the expression on her face. Priceless.

manic monday

Not much new to report this week. We are back in Lubbock and in our normal routine. Presley slept 9 hours on Friday night and I spent at least 2 of those hours with my ear glued to the monitor waiting for her to make a sound. We are eating like a champ these days. She likes sweet potatoes and squash way more than yucky rice cereal. This week we are on to peas. Our first green veggie...I'll let you know how it goes. She has been showing a lot of signs of cutting teeth lately, so we might be seeing some pearly whites soon.

Toes are our new favorite thing to eat.

In our new hooded robe.

Eating the wall...don't ask me.

Eating the knob on the DVD player...again, don't ask me.
