gone but not forgotten

I would like to thank everyone for all the well-wishes while I spent the last month in a coma.
Obviously that is a BIG FAT lie, but I had to come up with an excuse as to why I haven't blogged since September 7!! The truth is that life is just crazy with the Wyatts right now. The days and weeks fly by. I think the easiest way to recap the last month is through pictures, so here we go...

Grandparents Day at Fair Park.
This is Julianne, Presley's best friend at school.

Presley is a natural in front of the camera!

Playing in boxes...

Celebrating Uncle Steve's birthday!

Vising the zoo.

De-cluttering and loading up everything to sell at a consignment sale.

Jon took Presley to her first performance at the Children's Theatre.
Props to dad for sitting through "Pinkalicious"!

nebo-ing

For years, my parents have spent the Labor Day weekend atop Mt. Nebo in Dardanelle, Arkansas, about 75 miles from Little Rock. Last year, Presley stayed one night with Mimi & Poppie with Jon, Landon and I opting for a day visit. This year, it was time for the entire family to camp out. The temp was warm but once you surrender to the sweat and grim of camping outdoors, it doesn't seem that bad. The campground has a nice pool so there's always an easy way to cool off. We didn't do too much besides hike around, cook and relax. Naps were possible thanks to Mimi & Poppie's trailer. Late nights staying up to watch the stars come out were possible thanks to naps. Presley slept in the trailer with M & P while Landon hung with Jon & I in the tent. Aside from the heavy downpour we received on Saturday afternoon, the weekend was wonderful!

SMORES!

tiny dancer

When I was growing up dance was my thing. I took at the same studio for 14 years. Well, guess who slipped into a leotard and tights and hit the very same dance floor? I talked Jon into letting Presley try an after-school activity this year and she chose dance. I looked around at different studios, but in the end, my nostalgia bone won out and I signed her up for the 4 year old class at my alma mater, Little Rock School of Dance. When we went to the open house, the memories came flooding back as I entered a building almost exactly the same as it was 15 years ago. There are 5 girls in her class and two teachers so I am hoping the small ratio will allow her to really learn lots of skills.
Presley LOVED her first class, and thanks to the classroom video monitors, I was able to spy and make sure she was paying attention. She is already asking about the "show" a.k.a. recital. The studio does one in December so she won't have to wait that long before hitting the stage.

hey, hey, we're going to pre-k

I can't believe that it's time for Presley to go to Pre-K. We had lots of options for this school year, but decided to try out the pre-k program offered by the Little Rock School District. Our attendance zone school didn't have a pre-k program so we chose Fair Park Early Childhood Center. Unlike other programs that house the 4 year olds within the elementary school building, Fair Park is only for 4 year olds, 179 of them to be exact. We have heard so many good things about this school, and even though it's a bit of a drive for mama, we thought it was the best choice for Presley.
There are 20 kids in Presley's class and two teachers. The principal is amazing and the kids love her. They wear uniforms which makes our mornings that much easier.

Surprisingly, I got a little emotional after dropping her off. It's not like I was worried about her, she's been going to "school" since she was 10 months old. I think what got me is that I will never have her at home with me like I've had for the last 4 years. She will always be in school now. Boo!

Presley had a GREAT first day, and didn't have a single negative thing to say - her favorite part was playing on the playground! We are so excited about this year and all the wonderful things it has in store for us.

What's a first day of school without ice cream!!

Landon also had his first day back at Second Presbyterian Preschool.
I didn't think to take any pictures. Sorry, second born!

here's looking at two

Here are Landon's two year pictures.

This looks more like a kindergarten picture than one of a 2 year old!

birthday card

Last year, I had a friend in Albuquerque create a one-of-a-kid birthday announcement for Landon. This year, I couldn't resist having her make another one.

another year gone by

Every year, my mom and I take time out in June/July to take pictures with the kids. Luckily this year  my mom didn't have to make a 10-15 hour drive! We always have fun during this session. Landon was a runner so the photographer had to be quick to snap these.
