MEASURING UP
I think most people remember where their parents used to mark their height when they were growing up. I saw this and knew I had to do it. I can picture our family making notches on this thing for years to come.

The process:
I took some scrap wood my dad had and cut it down to 7 inches wide and 6 feet long. We then sent it through his plainer to take off all the grime. I put two coats of stain on it then painted the lines and numbers with black craft paint.
The change:
Looks exactly alike!
The checkbook:
Scrap wood and stain from dad and black paint from me = $0!!
The bottom line:
I love, love, love this sentimental idea and can't wait to watch it fill up with memories.
