a december to remember

December flew by faster than most months. With parties, performances, and an ice storm, we were on the go from the 1st to the 31st.

ice ice baby

We got some snow, rather ice, a few weeks ago. The week started in the mid-50's and by Friday, schools were closed and Little Rock was a solid sheet of ice. We took advantage of our hilly terrain and did some amazing sledding. Landon didn't care much for it, but Presley had a need for speed. Jon was on call and had to get to the hospital on Saturday and Sunday, but the kids and I didn't leave the house for 4 days. By the time Monday rolled around, the schools were still closed and the kids and I were going a little crazy. The temps started to rise and the ice finally started to melt. Normal life resumed on Tuesday as the entire city breathed a sigh of relief that unlike the major winter storm we experienced last year, the power stayed on!

giving thanks

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving. It felt like we were on an extended vacation since we didn't have to travel anywhere. Brooke, Ben, Ava, Macy and Aubrey came in on Tuesday and cousin time began. Presley adores her cousins and for the most part, the 3 big girls get along really well. We hosted the Thanksgiving meal at our house. It turned out to be a pretty sweet deal since I only ended up cooking the turkey and ham while Mom and Jon's mom brought all the sides and desserts. Ben, Brooke and the kids could only stay through Thanksgiving afternoon so we had a great lunch and then spent the rest of the day laying around and munching on leftovers. We have so much to be thankful for this year. Happy Thanksgiving 2013!

Brooke and I ended up wearing the same shirt and pants.

picture post

I've had this post drafted for several weeks now and well, here it is December and I am just now getting it up. I will follow up later this week with all the details of our wonderful Thanksgiving. Until then, here's some things that kept us busy in early/mid November.

We're always wearing costumes around here.

Poor Landon has suffered from bloody noses for a while now. Sometimes they are pretty bad and I can't get them to stop. Have you ever tried to get a 2 1/2 year old to sit still for 10 minutes? Well, it's almost impossible so here's our remedy for a blood nose and an on-the-go toddler.
(He'll hate me for this later!)
