a full hand

Presley is 5 years old! The first time I saw her hold up all 5 fingers on her hand I almost ran over to correct her. It goes without saying that the last 5 years have flown by. In sticking with the "P" theme I swore I would ditch years ago, we hosted "Presley's Painting Party". For a split second I considered hosting the event at our house but quickly came to my senses as I envisioned myself cleaning up paint splatters for years to come (I still see glitter on our dining room chairs from last years Princess Party!). I found a local painting studio that hosted kids parties so it was off to Spirited Art for some messy fun. The kids seemed to have a great time painting their gum ball machines and footballs.

Making the invitations as I waited for my oil to be changed.

We celebrated Presley's actual birthday at a local pizza joint.
She had been asking for a "My Little Pony" cake for months. Luckily the pony's are making a comeback and I was able to get this cute cake made. Of course she was most exited about getting to keep the 2 pony's on top.

There were 3 boys at the party but they could care less about this part.
Look at all the girls though.

a second helping of February

The new look has inspired me to do some posting. Here's an update on the Wyatts of la Petite Roche...

Landon will be 3 in July and is definitely coming out of his shell. Usually quiet and reserved, Landon's new favorite word is, "no". He is a daredevil but can quickly become a sweet little boy who cries for his mommy. He is Presley's shadow and knows the exact buttons to push to annoy her. He's a great sleeper, an ok eater and is giving me a run for my money when it comes to potty training.

Presley will be 5 this week. I can't believe we are parents of a 5 year old. She is so smart. She talks from the moment she wakes up until her eyes close at night. She loves school and is very particular about her wardrobe.

PawPaw and Presley sporting matching watches from the arcade machine at one of our favorite pizza places.

The first of March means it's time for the Little Rock Marathon, well in my case, the Little Rock Half Marathon. The thing about running marathons is that you register for the run 6 months in advance, train for 4 months and by the time it's race day you are wondering why you signed up to do it in the first place. I set out to beat my time from last year and run the race in under 2 hours so I could feel content with it being my last half marathon. The conditions were pretty rough with on-and-off rain, a bitter 15-20 mph wind and a 15 degree temperature drop. The odds were not in anyone's favor for setting record times and I ended up coming in at 2 hours and 24 seconds!

under the knife

Did you notice?

Did you see?

The blog FINALLY got a facelift! It's been almost 3 years since we have been "The Wyatts of West Texas". When it comes to technology, I put myself in the class of "I know enough to get by but am definitely not an expert on the latest and greatest." That being said, I was a little intimidated about changing the background, title and possibly the HTML coding of my blog. It snowed - AGAIN - last night and the kids are out of school - AGAIN - so I decided to sit down and add a new look to the old blog. I didn't change much but I think it's fresh and will hopefully inspire me to post more often.

Here's a little description to clarify the new title:
Located near the geographic center of Arkansas, Little Rock derives its name from a small rock formation on the south bank of the Arkansas River called la Petite Roche (French: "the little rock"). The "little rock" was used by early river traffic as a landmark and became a well-known river crossing. The "little rock" is across the river from "big rock," a large bluff at the edge of the river, which was once used as a rock quarry.
